Nous avons enfin pu redémarrer le programme piscicole à Vohitrarivo dans le cadre de l’initiative SOS – Save Our Species de l’UICN grâce au soutien financier d’une fondation privée basée à Genève.
L’objectif est d’augmenter la production de la pisciculture locale en améliorant les techniques d’élevage pratiquées par les villageois possédant un bassin piscicole à Vohitrarivo. Il s’agit d’assurer des revenus supplémentaires aux bénéficiaires et ainsi préserver l’habitat des lémuriens.
Une enquête préalable auprès des fournisseurs et des consommateurs a permis d’identifier l’espèce la plus intéressante pour la pisciculture locale : il s’agit du tilapia.
Les 13 bénéficiaires du programme ont reçu chacun 100 alevins (quantité correspondant à la taille des bassins).
Nos agronomes d’IMPACT qui ont formé les bénéficiaires, poursuivront leur accompagnement tout au long du programme.

Finally, we have been able to restart the fish farming program in Vohitrarivo within the framework of IUCN’s SOS – Save Our Species initiative thanks to the financial support of a private Geneva-based foundation.
The aim is to increase the production of local fish farming by improving the farming techniques practised by the villagers of Vohitrarivo owning a fish pond. It will then ensure additional income for the beneficiaries and thus preserve the habitat of lemurs.
A preliminary enquiry among the suppliers and the cusomers has identified the most interesting species for the local fish farming.
The 13 beneficiaries of the program each received 100 young fishes of tilapia (quantity corresponding to the size of the ponds).
Our agronomists from IMPACT who trained the beneficiaries will continue their support throughout the program.
